A Change in the Weather

Hello Readers!

Today is the first day where it has actually rained enough that I need to use my raincoat and umbrella! England has begun to live up to its expectations - today began sunny, progressed to a torrential thunderstorm and is now sunny again. Of course, with my luck, I was walking to class during the torrential downpour. It wasn't that bad until halfway, when I got to take a shower. Apparently, I didn't get the memo to stay FAR away from the road, and, like a typical American, was staying right. Before I could realize what happened, a car drove right next to me, not a foot away...and of course, through a very large puddle.

Now, we all know what happens when you drive through a large puddle at a decently fast speed. A monsoon at about a three foot radius all around the vehicle. I happened to be in that splash zone. The water hit me like a wall and even got in my ear. However, one car seemed to be not enough. Immediately after the small car, before I could get out of the way, a bus - yes, a bus - drenched me thoroughly as well. Needless to say, I don't even want to think about the filthiness of the water, and I will be showering at the next available moment.

Mom and Dad have been down in Cornwall for the past two days, and are driving home now. Tonight we will go into Gloucester for an Organ Concert at the Cathedral. We are also going to have dinner at one of my favorite pubs so far called The Abbey.

First, I just have to get through a three hour lecture on how to trap small insects....

Cheers!
Beth
